This is a nice supper club that is next to the lake, great views from the bar and several tables in the dinning room. The people were great, everyone made me and my son feel very welcome. The food was very good I had the walleye and wild rice and my son had the fisherman platter, huge portions, well cooked and plated... This restaurant is one not to overlook! Dinner for two = $51.00 + 10.00 tip = $61.00 total.

Nice place with a nice, hard working staff. They seemed short staffed the night I was there, but they all really hustled and service was very good. Highlights - I got the (non-fried) walleye, which was really good. Don't need the dipping tartar sauce as the flavor was great. The prices - sort of used to urban prices - so getting $3-4 beers and $5 tall mixed drinks was a welcome feature. The honey butter that comes with the bread is really, really good. The side carrots and mashed potatoes that I had with the walleye were both great. Carrots were the brown sugar, butter variety. Only negative: someone alluded to this in a previous post, but the beer cheese soup is (imho) not one of their strongest options. It truly tastes like the cheese you would get on nachos at a ball game thinned out with a little beer.

I wanted an exceptional dining experience, so because of the recent reviews we thought that this would be an excellent choice. Wrong! When we arrived we went into the bar. Very nice bartender and drinks were fine. However, every bar stool I looked at had a vinyl covering that needs replacing. We then went back to the dining room to eat. First of all....the dining room was clean....but, the tables are covered with plastic table covers and also had paper placemats. Really? So tacky! The food was ok....at best. The seasoned potatoes were drenched in oil. Service was slow...and only a total of six people there. Our water glasses were never refilled. No background music, but for entertainment we were lucky enough to hear the employees in the back fighting. Not classy at all. No intention of ever going back.

Excellent service for lunch. We ate the specials of the day. Very good! I can see why this is the #1 place in eagle.
(5)Matt W.
Great place for food and drinks. The menu is way beyond what you would expect from a typical brew pub. They have bacon-wrapped filets, excellent seafood, and great burgers too. To top it off they have a great view of the water and friendly people in the bar. If you are in Eagle River eat here first.

If you come through Eagle River you MUST eat and drink here above all other restaurants! Not only is the food first class, but the staff is sooo hospitable, helpful and kind! So the food, we ate here twice in the the two days we spent here. I'm from KC and am spoiled by amazing bbq ribs but THESE ribs (and the smoked meat loaf) are some of the best I've eaten! The corn muffins are delicious and the drinks are poured perfectly!!! I could easily speak in hyperbole but it's truly sincere: Eddie himself is equally as wonderful as the food. I've been treated like royalty and have made some friends for life! Can't wait to come back here! Don't walk here, run...and come hungry!!!!

Much needed new addition to the North Woods dining scene. Eagle River needed a new choice and this is it! Staff and owner are friendly and eager to please. Had the seafood platter and it was excellent. Wine was great as well. Had a wonderful seat overlooking Eagle River. Can't wait to come back and try the ribs. Was at this restaurant many years ago, and am happy to see that Eddie B has brought it back to life. Our new "go to" place when we come "up north"!

Came here twice on a recent visit to Eagle River. Once to drink and once to eat. Both times were excellent. I had a wonderful time. Owner was there each time; very friendly and the food (especially the ribs) were fall off the bone delicious. I highly recommend this place for family dining or just hanging with friendly locals at the bar.

New owner has rebooted this restaurant and the results show. Meal overall was good, the drinks as they should be, and we were greeted and treated in a manner the made us feel welcomed. We will be back next time up north.
(5)Steve D.
This place is a supper club, not a brew pub as suggested by one of the other reviewers. The food is excellent and the staff couldn't be nicer. I had the smoked pork tenderloin and it was great. My wife had some kind of chicken and pasta dish and she loved it. We'll be back here, maybe for the fish fry.

We were just passing thru as we do about once a year and stumbled upon Eddies. WOW! I'give them an 11 if I could. Had the smoked rib eye french dip - OUTSTANDING! We ate overlooking the river, what a treat! And our waitress KATIE, was the best, helpful, friendly, and attentive. We will be back next year!

Friday night fish fry! Oh ya! We had the deep fried beer battered cod. It was so tender, cooked just right. Three huge pieces, potato pancakes, cole slaw, friendly service. This goes to the top of my favorite real cod fish fries. EW you have been moved to second place. My son had the sirloin steak, and he raved about it. We will defiantly be back next time in town.
(4)Thomas D.
Great smoked ribs , nice place with a view of the river. Good service and cool old north woods atmosphere .
(4)Amy S.
Five of my girlfriends and I landed at Eddies for dinner on a Friday night based on a local recommendation. The service was excellent and our server Keith was friendly and very accommodating. We had a round of bloody Mary's which we all agreed were the best we've ever had. Many of us had the fish fry and really enjoyed that as well. And if you save room, have some cheesecake. Overall great experience!
(5)Jennifer D.
Big Ed is very nice and his staff follows suit and makes sure you have what you need. No beer on tap, but has a good bottle selection. Beer cheese soup was good (added some pepper and was great) and shared a burger with a side of shoe string onion rings. The decadent chocolate cake was fantastic. If we were in the area again, we would come back for a meal.

The NICEST, friendliest service I've experienced in a very long time. Genuinely lovely people here. Ed makes a really mean bloody mary, too! My hubbins and I drove past, thought it looked ok from the outside so we stopped in and - SURPRISE - we loved it! Hubbins has been coming up to this area for 30+ years and I've been coming for 15 years (usually 2 weekends a month) and we never heard of this place before now - probably because they don't advertise in the North Woods Dining Guide. Anyhow, we were looking for a simple Sunday lunch with bloody marys and we came to the right place. I ordered a tasty charbroiled burger with home made eggplant fries (yum!) and the hubbins ordered the Kansas City burger with haystack onion rings. I am very pleased that they gave the option for either a 1/4# or 1/3# burger because I deplore food waste and the 1/4# was just the right size. Both burgers were very good, but the eggplant fries and the onions were phenomenal (although I think the eggplant would be even better if they used grated parmesan rather than shredded - but that's hardly even worth mentioning). The price was right and both entrees were delicious! Their menu is loaded with meal options that are smoked in-house (meatloaf, ribs, pulled pork) that sound wonderful. Hubbins is excited to try the meatloaf sometime - so we plan to return for dinner soon. The view of the river is gorgeous and I can't wait to check out the tiki bar before it gets too cold out.

In town for the weekend and decided to visit, we ordered the Fish Fry and it was ok, the batter was very thick and not as flaky as I would like (my opinion). Ordered the popcorn shrimp for my daughter, for $5.99 it was a regular adult order and it was awesome two thumbs up. I got the smoked ribs and they were prefect. Great place and reasonable on price.
(4)Evan L.
This was our first visit to Eddie B's and it was excellent! The fish fry was excellent, the beer cheese soup was awesome also. We did not find one negative thing to even talk about. Our waiter Keith was better than great! It was just the right smount of service. Thanks for a great meal.
(5)C P.
Glad to see ya hangin' in there! Long life-good food.
(4)Mista C.
Found this place after a long day of snowboarding, and were treated really well. Lots of Wisconsin staples, cheese curds were great, but the beer cheese soup is kinda like nacho cheese mixed with Coors light. Steaks were done to perfection, chicken Alfredo was solid too. They were super friendly! TL; DR: Solid food, great service, no complaints major about this place and they were super friendly!
(4)Valerie C.
We had an early dinner here - not a lot places open before 5 around here. This place is open for lunch and dinner. Service was quick and very responsive. The staff and the owner were very personable. There is a parking out front and out back you can pull your boat up in the summer. They also have a deck for service in the warmer months. The views are very pretty out their panoramic windows on to lake.

My wife stayed in Eagle River for a week due to the death of her mother. She and her sister had several meals at Eddie B's White Spruce restaurant throughout the week. In each case the food was fantastic from the steaks to the pork chops to the fish. The chili was their favorite. Everyone was so friendly but my wife especially mentioned that Eddie B. and Pam were phenomenal during this difficult time. After the funeral she decided to have a gathering of family. It was only natural to have this event at the White Spruce Restaurant. From the warm greeting the moment you step in the door to the comfort food, wine and cocktails, everything was perfect. We strongly recommend this restaurant for anyone traveling through Eagle River. You will not be disappointed!
(5)Ted K.
Really enjoy their burgers. Have a great fish fry as well. Ed is a stand up, shirt off his back kind of an operator. Fun setting and easy to get to via boat and car. Definately worth more than one stop. Makes signature Wisconsin cocktails like they should be done.
(5)Lisa G.
The deep fried cod was awesome and reasonably priced. Nice onion rings. Good service and atmosphere.

Longtime temporary resident of Eagle River area. Never stopped at the White Spruce until this summer when we saw new owner sign and decided to try fish Friday. It was some of the best cod we've had anywhere, and you could choose potato pancakes if your tired of fries. Large white meaty cod and hot crispy exterior. Been back with friends and sat outside on the river edge tikki patio. Beautiful, Husband had smoked meatloaf, twice now. Everything we tried was really good, eggplant fries are a nice choice instead of french fries. Very friendly, owners on site . Had some fun conversation with staff. Our new favorite place. Oh , goood bloody marys and old fashions. From the road you would never expect how cute this place is. Also , they are open for lunch and 7 days a week. No more driving miles only to find a rest. closed Sun. Mon. Or Tues.

We went on a Sunday night, and the place was busy (not a lot of places are open up here on Sunday evening). Restaurant is in a really old log cabin, and it has the feel it could have been a fancy place at one time, but everyone dresses very casually. We had drinks and potato skins (comes with your choice of beef or chicken on them). Dinner was sirloin (cooked perfectly) with garlic mashed (real potatoes..yum) carrots and kale. Hubby had ribs, which he declared were the best he's had out (and he's been to Black's BBQ in Texas), wild rice, baked beans and this kale. The kale is really tasty (especially when eaten with the sweet carrots or beans). Ask to sit by the window overlooking the river if it's available. It's a beautiful setting. Our server was a young man who made a few "boo boos" but fessed up to them, and was very sweet and was really hustling. Only other thing..a little too much salt on the steak (I scraped it off and it was fabulous). We enjoyed this place immensely and will be back soon!!
(4)David G.
The place is nice and the waitress was great but the food was really salty. The potatoes and onion Straws were so salty we could not eat them. The fish was good.

The old White Spruce Inn has reopened this past summer of 2012 as: Eddie B's White Spruce Restaurant and Tavern (715) 480-4000 First chance I had to eat there was last Saturday, 10/21/12 and we were all quite pleased. I had the pork schnitzel mit spaetzle and it was very good. It was a special for the evening. The gravy served was a little skimpy but tasty. I should have asked for more but didn't. Great fresh dinner salad. Paid $1.50 extra for crumbled blue cheese with my French dressing and it was worth every penny. The other gentleman in our group ordered the rib eye steak and said it was delicious. And it looked delicious. An inch and a half thick steak that you could order to your likeness and have it come out that way, not some skinny flat thing Will certainly go back again and won't be afraid of bringing guests. If I had a complaint it would be more of an observation than a complaint. While "relaxed" seems to be the order of the day in the North Woods, the owner/host was a bit under-dressed in jeans and shirt. Not that a tux was needed but a nice pair of Dockers and a high end dress shirt certainly wouldn't have been out of character even if you're eating in a spruce log building. My wife thought when he walked up to us that he was a customer leaving until she saw the menus in his hand. Also, as soon as we entered the building, the host escorted us directly to the dining area. Had he been busy with other customers, he would have found us already seated in the bar as there was only one couple there, but we weren't given the opportunity. He probably lost a few bucks as we're known to have a couple or three rounds before we eat. Now it was reduced to one round because our waitress like all waitresses are born to hound you with ordering unless you stand up and shout "We'll call you when we're ready" or something of the sort. They reopened sometime this past summer and had nice crowds from the get-go. My advice would be to call for reservations, for sure during tourist season. I'm happy to see someone finally doing well there especially because of it's being an Eagle River Landmark. We will certainly be return customers.

We had a very nice walleye dinner there last Friday night. Dinner salad was very nice, and the rolls were delicious. Asparagus were cooked perfectly. I also had the eggplant fries to try something different, and they were very good too. Jason, the bartender, was very friendly and helpful.
(4)Natalie G.
My friends and I initially went here for a drink, and Jason the bartender certainly delivers. He knows how to mix a good cocktail, especially the dessert drink, a "Pink Squirrel." Anyway, Ed, owner, was there and also very personable, so we decided to make it our supper club for the evening. My friends enjoyed the wall-eye and someone loved the ribs. I had the jager schnitzel, and it was delicious. The only complaint was that a couple of people had over salty food, and my beer soup was not very good. I didn't finish it. However, the service and atmosphere are great and most of the food is delicious. I heard good things about the spaghetti as well. This is the oldest building in Eagle River, and the original log cabin, so that is kind of cool in its' own right! This has a great pier where you can tie up to go eat, and a lovely outdoor area. We were there on a Sunday, so it seemed kind of slow, but I imagine it is hopping on the weekends. I will definitely be back next year for dinner and a "Pink Squirrel." I highly recommend!

Head lunch here. Food is overpriced for the quality. It wasn't great, it wasn't bad. It took a long time to get our food. Good if you go with friends and plan to stay a while and chat. Not good for young children if you plan to get in and out. Hamburgers were pretty decent, but my husband want impressed with the shrimp. Beautiful scenery right on the river.
(3)Lori O.
GREAT Beer Battered Cod!! Probably the best fish fry I've had in Eagle River to date! Will definitely be back for more. The ribs were very good also. Great, friendly service and a nice outdoor deck right on the river.
(5)Darlene A.
In passing through Eagle River,we stopped in the White Spuce inn and had a wonderful dinner.. The service was very attentive. We had the Walleye dinner. It Was amazing. It had a light coating that was so flavorable. It was the best fish dinner I have ever had. After ordering I found out they smoke their own ribs, we are going to have to go back and have them next time. I give this resturant a A1...
(5)Rich G.
Can't imagine a better place for dinner & drinks this new years eve! In the area? Say Hi to Eddie B for me ...
(5)J K.
One star is for our waitress that did her best in a terrible situation. The other star is for getting money off of our bill for waiting 1 1/2 hours for our entrees that were cold and tasteless. The restaurant was not overly busy. Eddie needs to step up his game. Sad to say (for this establishment) I have had better food at chains, and that's a real slap in the face for a place that others have gotten good service at.
